Originally from Castledermot, Co. Kildare, but now living in Ballydehob, Co Cork and a member of The Irish Long Distance Swimming Association Stephen Redmond swam his was into the history books last night,  by becoming the tenth swimmer to complete the toughest swim in the world (the North Channel from Scotland to Northern Ireland, Stephen swimming for his chosen Charity Irish Cancer Society left Scotland yesterday morning and arrived late last on the bangor coast Northern Ireland in 17 hours 17 minutes.

Credit goes to his support team and boat pilot Brian Meherg of Banger Boats, and also to his swimming comrades in the Cork Area like Mr Ned Denison Chairman of Swim Ireland All Ireland Open Water Committee whos responsible to making Cork the capital of Open Water Swimming in Ireland.
