ILDSA Swim Ratification and Swim Recording
The ILDSA has set out in its charter to act as a promoter for open water swimming in Ireland by ratifying and recording marathon and notable swims that occur on and around the Island of Ireland.
Our objective is to reward and recognise swimmers who are pioneers in open water swimming, whilst also capturing the rich history of swims in Ireland to inspire our future generations.
Ratification
The ILDSA will ratify Marathon Skins Solo swims of 10km or more, and Skins Relay swims of 20km or more.
Criteria
The Swim is carried out and observed as adhering to “channel rules” (see link)
The Swim must comply with the ILDSA ratification process
Ratified swims will be promoted on ILDSA platforms
Ratified swims will be communicated as ratified on ILDSA website
Ratified swims will be logged into the Marathon Swim history on the ILDSA Website
Ratified swims will receive formal certification and presentation at the ILDSA annual awards
Ratified swims will be eligible for consideration for award at the ILDSA annual awards
Recording
The ILDSA will record Marathon Wetsuit Swims of 10km or more, and Wetsuit Relay swims of 20km or more.
Criteria
The swim does not have to be carried out using “channel rules”
The swim must be observed and reported using ILDSA recording process
Approved swims will be promoted on ILDSA platforms
Approved swims will be logged onto the Ireland Swim History under the relevant category
Process
Notify ILDSA Recorder of route of swim you are intending to take via email [email protected]
Download the relevant observer’s log form:
During the swim, log all required information onto ILDSA observer’s log
Post swim, submit all ratification documents and relevant evidence of swim as required to [email protected]
The recorder will review all documentation for the purpose of ratification of the swim
Once a swim is ratified, you will be notified and all follow-on actions will occur with regard to logging onto website and annual awards.
