Record breakers!

Team OA Giants successfully crossed the North Channel on 2nd August 2020 in a time of 9 hrs 2 mins 41 secs, setting a new record for the fastest swim by either relay team or solo swimmer. Huge congratulations to the swimmers: Keith Garry, Dominic Mudge, Bill Donnelly, Chris Judge, Colin Lindsay, and John McElroy This swim has been recorded in the ILDSA historical database

Lauren O'Malley Length of Carlingford Lough, July 2020 Lauren O'Malley, USA swam Carlingford Lough, from Victoria Lock near Warrenpoint, Coordinates 54 07.583 N 006 18.330 W to the Helly Hunter Cardinal Marker Buoy near Haulbowline Light House, Coordinates 54 00.351 N 006 02.052 W in a time of 5 hrs 58 mins 18 secs on the 19th of July 2020. This swim has now been ratified by ILDSA. The distance from point to point measures at 24.5 km and is recorded in the ILDSA historical database Gordon Adair

ILDSA channel swim season update

Channel swims between Ireland and Scotland will resume from the 15th of July, 2020 with Ireland to Isle of Man also be reopening shortly after this. If you have a planned channel crossing for this year contact your pilot for specific guidance whilst on board their vessel.  They will have procedures in place to maintain current PHA and government recommendations. It is imperative that you adhere to their procedures. All pilots have the right to terminate your swim if they feel there is a risk to anyone onboard. If travelling from abroad please adhere to Northern Ireland’s Public Health
